VITAL'S VOLUNTEER PROGRAM

Our program is designed locally in conjunction with our partner organizations and some key members of the beneficiary community.

Vital is a well established non-profit corporation which plans and implements various projects in Ghana (West Africa) annually.

Our staff members work with partner organizations to assess their needs in the community, in areas of health and education. In addition, we observe partners in their various establishments to gain first hand knowledge of their problems.

The assessment enables us to match volunteer skills and interest with the needs and interest of our partner organizations.

Volunteers are needed in the following areas:
1. Teachers: Mathematics (high school) through Pre calculus
2. Teachers: English (high school) grammar and writing
3. Teachers: English (high school) speech
4. Teachers: English (university) critical reading & comprehension
5. Teachers: English (university) writing
6. Teachers: Business (university) administration
7. Teachers: Business (university) management
8. Teachers: Business (university) accounting
9. Teachers: Social Studies (university)
10. Teachers: Arts (university) Appreciation
11. Teachers: History (university) American History for Immigrants
12. Teachers: Science (university) Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering
13. Teachers: Nursing (university) sciences
14. Teachers: Nursing (university) practice
15. Teachers: Nursing (university) hospital skills
16. Teachers: Nursing (university) nursing indications
17. Teachers: Medicine - Basic Sciences
18. Teachers: Medicine - Clinical Specialties

Currently, we have openings in various schools and hospitals in the Eastern and Greater Accra Region. We also have AIDS outreach program and we are currently in the process of developing community library projects.

Medical, Nursing and other college students interested in receiving credit for their work are able to do so through our collaboration with them and their various institutions.

After orientation, participants are paired up with their counterparts in the classrooms, hospitals and in community outreach projects for periods of two weeks. Special arrangements are made for those who request to stay for longer periods of time.

The Greater Accra and the Eastern region, where we work, has great history and traditions that will fascinate anyone who is ready and willing to help and learn.
